Holy Spirit Urgency

I may have underestimated how much God cares.

What Jesus taught, and what Jesus prayed… Father, Son, and Holy Spirit could not possibly be any more serious about.

Hostile territory

The last two weeks in this space (May 12, May 5) I’ve addressed three of the biggest “dividing walls of hostility” (Ephesians 2:14) in the Body of Christ in America today. Two weeks ago I shared about the movie That They May Be One featuring Francis Chan. If you’re reading this close to when it’s published (meaning Tuesday or Wednesday May 19-20) there’s still time, wherever you live in the US, to see it! I believe God will use that film to shine light on two huge areas of disagreement within the Body of Christ.

Last week the topic was politics, and how we’re so polarized we can’t even agree what, how, when, and where to pray. I was in the air all day Sunday, literally – three flights getting me back home from Geneva to Tucson, so all I know about what happened in Washington recently is what I’ve read and small clips I’ve watched. I had a few people ask about the reactions I’d received to last week’s article… all were healthy and positive, and approximately evenly split on both sides regarding Sunday’s Rededication on the National Mall. Not surprised!

Timeline urgency

2033 gives us a timeline. Nobody taking in air should be able to sleep through the 2000th anniversary of Jesus’ death and resurrection without even knowing about it. Nobody anywhere. What would have to happen for that to be true in the communities and cities we live in across the USA?

A couple answers to that question come to mind:

  • Pray. Pray now, pray daily, pray together. We don’t have to wonder how God feels when we’re praying what Jesus prayed (John 17 unity) and what He commanded (Matthew 28 Great Commission).

  • Abide, obey, repeat. I’ve thought about those three words daily since February 16, 2026 when those were my marching orders from Holy Spirit. This is a God-sized goal if there ever was one. God alone can lead and empower the goal to be met.

Geneva intimacy

Last Thursday through Saturday, thirty people representing 19 countries gathered together at a YWAM base outside Geneva, Switzerland, in the lovely village of Burtigny. As one person reflected, the gathering itself is proof of God’s activity and God’s passion.

No human explanation could account for people traveling from four continents or the highest level imaginable of divergence in terms of life experience.
The love for one another, among many people who were together for only 48 hours, has only one source and one explanation – Father, Son and Holy Spirit inviting us into the love and community built into God Himself.

The time is now

In Tucson, our first public citywide prayer gathering focused on 2033 will be this Sunday, Pentecost Evening, 5pm at Northminster Presbyterian Church. The purpose will be twofold – praying about April 17, 2033, and what it would take to change the reality that 900,000 Tucsonans weren’t worshiping Jesus on Resurrection Day 2026. We will also be praying about what our annual Easter/Pentecost event in preparation for 2033 should look like in 2027. This Sunday won’t look like any of the future events. This is an invitation for the Body to gather to passionately cry out for God to do what only He can.

If you’re not in the Tucson area, you can still do this! Call a few friends, invite them to call a few friends, and pray the same things. More info is available at jc2033.world and j17ministries.org/jc2033.

In prayer,
Dave Drum, Founder of J17 Ministries
