Signs of health in our city?
(A lot has happened this past week, to say the absolute least. I share my prayer for the US in the PS note below.)
Test time
A little three-question test to bless your day:
Would you agree that it would be a sign of health if the Christian leaders of a city prioritized a day of unified worship and prayer?
Would you agree that 50% of the Christian leaders gathering together for a day of unified worship and prayer would be healthier than 25%? And 75% healthier than 50%?
Last one: would you agree that Christian leaders of a city from multiple domains (ie, church, nonprofit, business, education, government, etc) gathering together for a day of unified worship and prayer would be healthier than if it was only one domain, like pastors?
If you answered anything less than a confident yes to each of those, may I invite you to not overthink it? Meaning, I know that there are strategy issues to consider like how broad the invitation should be, whether larger gatherings are more or less helpful than smaller ones, and so on. In the case of larger and smaller gatherings, at least here in Tucson, wait for it… it’s a both/and, not an either/or! We don’t have to choose, because both larger and smaller are happening.
Test do-over
Rephrasing all of the questions from the first quiz into a single question: would you agree that generally speaking, more prayer is better than less, more worship is better than less, more biblical unity is better than less, more dividing walls of hostility (or just isolation) coming down - and more quickly - is better than less and slower?
If you haven’t turned contrarian on me and are still heavily if not unequivocally landing on the yes end of the continuum…
I have fantastic news for you!!
If you live in the Tucson area, you can help make our city
healthier with the click of a mouse!

Report from the Prayer Summit Advisory Team
We have a great and diverse group of Christian leaders in Tucson who are part of a prayer summit advisory team, observing and promoting a variety of prayer summit streams in our city. Within our team are male and female; Anglo, Hispanic, and African American; pastors, worship leaders, business, and education leaders; and more. We all agree: whatever else we might want to say, more unified worship and prayer among our leaders is better than less.
And so we’ve put a couple stakes in the ground!
The last Monday through Wednesday of April will be a three-day pastor prayer summit.
A Thursday in November (the week before Thanksgiving unless a better option surfaces) will be an all-hands-on-deck Christian leaders one day event for unified worship and prayer.
As I recall, we anticipate keeping this rhythm until Jesus comes back. Or He leads us into something better.
Your to-do list today
So… register if you understand yourself to be someone who influences (leads) others in some domain of our city, and either live in or want to travel to the Tucson area.
And... invite others to do the same.
Depending on how healthy we are, we would hope to sell out due to space limitations.
PS, I’ve had multiple people reach out asking my thoughts after the week our nation just went through. My answer: pray for our country, the Kirk family, and the families of others who were injured or killed recently through acts of violence. And please pray for wisdom for me to know what God is asking me to share as part of the Both/And Life. Either/or's are literally killing us.
